oh no- the ice cream truck!
A couple of weeks ago, Duffy and I gladly introduced Owen to the fantastic idea of the ice cream truck. They don't come around much to our neighborhood, so when we heard one, we made a HUGE deal about it, let Owen pick out what he wanted, and continued to talk like, "Wow, Owen. Wasn't that great? That man just gave us ice cream. He drives around in the ice cream truck, and gives kids ice cream. Isn' t that soo nice?" and so on.
Fast forward to two days ago, and here I am in New York at my folks house with the kids. We put Carly in the swing my parents borrowed, and turned on the tinkly little music it played. Well, I've never seen Owen react in such a mix of anxiety, fear, and excitement. I thought he was really scared or hurt with the look on his face, when he ran to me, and said "Ice cream truck! Ice cream truck!" He thought the swing's music was the ice cream man going by. It was as if he couldn't at all understand why I wasn't running towards the door to flag him down the man who gave out ice cream. He loves pizza and ice cream, so he's definitely ours.
(And Lynn, your ice cream truck theory has left deep scars for me)
So yes, we are in New York, and we are really enjoying being pampered by Grandma and Grandpa. I didn't realize how badly I needed it until we got here. We can't wait for Duff to join us in a week.

Happy pampering, Amy. Enjoy! And maybe some ice cream truck drivers are in it for the sheer joy of sharing the sugar. . .
