My Sibling, My Friend

As is true with probably most parents, I deeply hope and pray that my children can grow to be really good friends, who support one another, and are bonded together. I think we are off to a decent start. We didn't experience any huge backlashes from Owen regarding the arrival of Caroline, and he outwardly expresses his fondness for her quite often ("awww...cute baby. My sister! That's my little sister! Caro-whine") More recently, he has started coming to her rescue by pulling inedible objects from her grasp *or her mouth*, and when any other little kids take her toys, watch out! Owen can bring out her most hearty giggles, and I have christened her "The Distracted Nurser" (SNL, here we come) because if she hears him even quietly walk past, it is worth turning her head to catch the action. The only time the peace is shattered is when Caroline grabs a fist full of hair, which to her is irrestible. I caught her in the act last night.

Here is a sweeter moment:

In other news, Owen has really gotten into creative expression. Today he said, "Mommy, look! A giraffe and an ostrich." I know I'm a biased critic, but it sure as heck does look like a giraffe. By the way, in the zoo, the ostriches are in with the giraffes. He's a clever little guy too.

In my life, I've still been continuing the search for "employment," (childcare) but in the meantime I have actually gotten really used to the idea of it being just the kids and me. And so now something has come up, which may be full-time, and I'm non-committal. It would be very helpful financially, but it's still not even definite and I'm already feeling stress. I've put a lot of prayer into this whole situation, so I know it will all work out--so now it is about: trust trust trust. faith faith faith. Tonight the woman called, and she asked some important questions that I hadn't really considered (like do I have a place for another child to sleep??), and I slipped into job interview mode. I asked Duffy how I sounded, and he said I sounded like I was agreeing with everything the woman said, (he was right, and my cheeks hurt from being so bubbly). My goal now is to totally be myself when they come to visit, and then if they still are comfortable with me, it will feel like an okay thing.

Gid told me to say, "Happy Birthday, Owen!!" We'll send that message again in December. . .

Please post more pictures. I can't describe the joy and satisfaction on Gid's face when he got to see these new pics. Owen is still a daily subject of conversation ("God made Owen's chest, too," "Owen has those cars," & "We will see Owen in December," & on & on). WE MISS YOU SO!!!
