Ode to Good Friends
How do you know you have good friends?
This is how we know...
They pay for our lunch
cause they know we have about $10 to our name.
They host a picnic with us and bring all the meat.
They play with our children a lot,
and actually seem to enjoy it.
They give you sweet tickets to a baseball game,
and say that they will be babysitting while you go.
They sign up to do nursery at church when it is always only our
children week after week.
They just stop on by to hang out a while,
and it is always a pleasure.
They have a hundred and one reasons to call
DFACS on you and they don't.
Oh Beloved Ones,
You know who you are.
I hope we can return all of the favors in time.
We love you guys,
and THANKS!

They let you and your fam crash on their couch
when it's time to celebrate the PhD coming out.
They send you surprises by mail for over a year
When you've moved two thousand miles away.
And the hope is still there that the kids will be tight
When they've grown up and forgotten the early years.
